Dentures for missing teeth

Usually made from acrylic material, dentures can replace all of a persons missing teeth or in some cases only some missing teeth. This is known as a partial denture. There are many reasons why you might be missing teeth. Missing teeth is a very common complaint many dentists hear. You might be thinking why should you get the missing tooth or teeth replaced? The number one reason people have their teeth replaced is appearance. A smile that shows off missing teeth often sends an unkempt message to others. If a sufficient number of teeth are missing, your mouth might change shape. This results in a change of face shape as well. Your mouth will appear different. A dentist’s might believe though, there are greater concerns than just your vanity. When teeth in your mouth are missing, the above teeth might come out of their sockets and fit themselves into the empty space. Problems in your bite may begin. This makes it difficult to close your mouth or might effect your ability to chew as well. If your most prominent teeth are missing, your speech could be effected. Not all teeth require replacement though. Older patients can lead normal lives while missing their second and third molars. It’s always a good idea to question your dentist’s reasons for wanting to replace your missing teeth if it is not affecting your lifestyle. Always remember to explore all of your options before making a decision.
